Next Performance

I have tweaked the blog and found other interesting items to add---not too much---it would look unprofessional then.
There's a second performance coming up in which RDC's repertoire will be featured. On the last showing, I showed Elevation and By The Way {which is not video}.
This upcoming performance will feature One--our company's mission, and will also preview All My Love.
To see the performance please visit the Rep Series site for info -- http://www.wendalkoon.webs.com/ or send an email to rdc_wlk@yahoo.com {and/or for time--which is being confirmed}.

Upcoming performance + interesting items

I thought I'd post a pic of me in pointe shoes. I no longer own a pair of pointes {due to a knee injury}. The dancer in the pic is Kacie-who danced in Season 2. I remembered that I never provided a link to these performances. Well.... the info is on my professional site.
I still need to check to see if it on the company's website....and checkout Wenda L. Koon blog for the newest entry!! I need to tweak this blog a little more. {usually, I close it to the public and tweak}.

PPS....the website is updated!!!

Well...the website is complete and has a new look -- visit @ www.rdcco.bravehost.com.

Also, I have talked myself into performing portions of our repertoire and solo rep as well at a nearby place. I had the first show this past Saturday and and still have 3 more to do this month. Lord knows waht the next month will bring.
I had to pull a show together in 3 days! I wanted to perform--and I got what I wanted!!! Be careful what you wish for--you just might get it. I didn't get any pics {b/c I was by myself}. Next...we'll have pics.

Off to develop the next show order!!! Ta ta.......

Website

In the following days, I will be at work on re-vamping the.....adding here....taking away there....and possibly adding new pages. I will also be working on a new look as well! I will keep the public posted when it is ready to view!
"set out each day to acheive a goal..... not accomplishing something is a waste of that day and you can never get it back"
quote by Joel Osteen 11/2009

Note on moving ahead because you feel you can....

On a light side {or in my case--a note to others}
Well, Ms. Koon, {that's me} chose to unveil the company 5 months prior to the orignal date; and it did not work out. If you plan to unveil a project before the original date--it might not work out!

Tidings.......

I have re-opened this blog and will be making changes {aesthtics} as normal. I hope everyone will have a good holiday.
I recently wrote a piece/article on the website....please feel free to view its contents {it is located under "news"}.
2009 is 1 month closing before next year. I have clue what 2010 will bring...nothing! So, I really cannot plan for the time being. In August of this year, Ms. LaKiaya Evans and myself were in talks about the future of RDC. That was 4 months ago--and plans can change. She was appointed to a new position by myself - Co-Artistic Director, due to choreographing half of our upcoming show. As the main choreographer, I am overloaded and cannot take on anymore. I sought out company members to help bring extra income--but no one could do it so I turned to Ms. Evans {after a commitment problem}. So, in all......things are are at a stand still.....we are both awaiting the right time to pursue this joint endeavor.
{of course, things can change----that's why it is called resurrection}!

30 August 2009

The rise and fall of RDC {hence, resurrection}

The end of August is near and the beginning brought many great tidings. I begun on a new note and quickly turned sour. RDC is not a company that is supposed of be a great success {or is it}? Since its inception {even under the old name} problems were had every single time--but I kept resurrecting with time. Again, as normal problems were found out and again.....no immediate future.

So......I am going to focus on a business that does show signs of prospering/flourishing---which is Marshall Investigation and...... a business my father begun and we took over after he died. It does make money and honestly is more lucrative than a dance company. Perhaps when MISA is walking well on its own, RDC will come alive.

RDC has four new dancers and one original member--but I feel it needs to be ran the way I feel comfortable. If I am not being heard in rehearsal, ignored, and invisible---I am not going to enjoy it. So, I let people go who were not shaping the direction of the company and re-vamped. My decision was, it is not the time for RDC to make a stand.

On another note, I have never stressed RDC's mission enough like I did with the former mission. I cannot have indivduals serving RDC who does not believe in our mission statement and put their priorties above others who don't have alot. It is important to have people who serve the ONE campaign and believe and understand that people are dying every single day.
If I do not uphold the company's mission and allow anyone to walk into the company -- we are no different -- and I want this to be different and unqique. Rooster {Drug Addiction} is our most reckonized piece since 2003---this 6 1/2 minute piece danced by only 2 dancers, recieve thunderous applause and I don't know why {maybe because I let the memory of deceased people live on forever and not just touch on one time}
Our work is dark and hardcore {emotional, spirituality, and choreographicaly} and most people don't want to deal with the dark side of life--but life is not always happy.

In closing, our work is about life and not about "light hearted fun". When you lose perspective {as I did} the work becomes lost and the dancers don't know why they are here. A note to any future dancer or past dancers: if you can't embrace the dark side of life--maybe RDC is not your cup of tea.

And..... we are not a Christian company--but I uphold those principles and expect others to act accordingly if serving our purpose.

To view our mission--please visit www.rdcco.bravehost.com and click "Mission".
