About RDC

RDC begun in 2002 under its former name, Dancer Enterprise Dance Company with 10 dancers. Founded and directed by Wenda L. Koon, the company instilled choreography such as lyrical, ballet, jazz, hip hop/funk, and abstract based genres. The company held two concerts in 2003 {Barnavelder Movement Arts Complex} and took a short hiatus.
In 2003, Dancer Enterprise emerged with two new dancers, Kacie Yui and Roland Latson; but then took another hiatus.

In January of 2005, Ms. Koon had changed the name. In July of the same year, Ms. Koon created the mission of RDC. During that year, Angela Huffpower became the first perment member of the company; later to go on and serve as a Director and choreographer. RDC never performed in 2005, but spent the better part of the year fine tuning the company and its vision.

Late December 2005, Ms. Koon was ready to unveil the newly revised company. Via the internet, Ms. Koon invited a Guest Artist {Cassandra L. Shaffer} to perform in the 2006 concert. RDC was unveiled at a small intimate setting in March of 2006 {the concert only featured two dancers, due to companies dropping out}.

Cassandra L. Shaffer later relocated to Houston, Texas and brought in an additional dancer, Arielle Garrison, and a local dancer, Shanon Adams. RDC was in rehearsals during August of 2006 preparing for their shows--September/preview and October/concert held at Barnavelder. In September, the three dancers decided to resign, after internal problems between the directors. Although, the resignations did not follow RDC's contract, the Artistic Director let them leave.

In October of the same year, RDC regrouped and Angela Huffpower was reinstated in her position and performed December 2006 along side Ms. Koon. In 2007, RDC went on a hiatus due to the directors' knee injury and returned to the stage in November. This was to be the last concert of Resurrection Dance Company with the current roster. The company closed in December of 2007. The director felt it was step that did not need to happen; nevertheless, did, due to surmounting personal problems with former dancers {Season 5}.

August of 2009, Resurrection Dance Company will emerge again with Season 3 dancer, Roland Latson; and longtime Assistant/partner, Angela Huffpower, LaKiaya Evans .... and new members. Along with this cast, Ms. Koon will also have the funding for the company {which masses 5 dancers} for the salaries/perks until the end of 2009.

In the end of August, the company took a hiatus to truely focus on the purpose of RDC - mission, goals, ectera. With this also came parting of a few dancers.

In closing, RDC has had several hiatuses mainly due to stresses of time commitments of dancers and personal issues.
